Bench Review #1

Or rather to sit down and let the world go by
The bench above is in Plas Newydd on Ynys Môn (or Anglesey if you are English), and it is one of many benches that we will “review” on this site.
What is a "Bench review" I hear you ask?
Well, its a bit of harmless fun really. My wife and I regularly take walks around parks and visits to towns across the UK, and occassionaly we have a need to stop and rest from the sight-seeing/shopping/anbling around.
We started to notice that we were making decisions on where to sit based on a rather arbitrary set of preferences, and, on our weekly visit to our local park, we started to play a game to see which of the many benches was our preferred spot.
Now, our criteria may not match you idea of what a “good bench” is but that is the beauty of a bench - there tends to be another one somewhere nearby that may suit your mood better. Preferences will always be subjective
As, by their very nature, benches are generally situated in public places, we will try to give the location of the ones that we feature - the one pictured above is not situated exactly at this what3Words co-ordinates, but we will aim to correct that as we progress.
So back to the review - what criteria do we use?
This not just where the bench is but can include things like is it in the shade/sunshine, is it close to busy footpaths or set back in a secluded spot.
Almost self explanatory, what you can see when sitting on the bench.
Another subjective measure, and very dependant on how long you have been wakling around! However things like whether the seat is actually level and on a stable base, or is precariopusly perched or tilted make the al the difference between sitting down for a bit of a breather or spending the afternoon reading a book.
